Got Back Pain? Give Static Lunges a Try

That's me demonstrating the static lunge which is part of the Get Fit Anywhere Body Weight Series. Do them at work, at home or even outside. They also happen to be a great exercise for opening up your hips which is a common problem. As always experiment with different variations to find which ones work best for you.

One common problem I face with clients and students is back pain. Many times the pain is attributed to 3 things:

Lack of balance
Lack of Coordination
Lack of Flexibility (especially in the hip flexors)
LOE: This is short for Lack of exercise
TMS: This is short for too much sitting

With all that in mind here the exercise above that can help with all the problems I've just listed:

Give it a try whence you get a chance and add it to your routine:

I like to do 2-3 sets of 20 reps:

If you have trouble at first simple reduce the range of motion by not going all the way down. You can also do less reps and sets.
